Stampeders Earn Two Massive Points During Their First Ever Student Game

Swan River, MB. – The Swan Valley Stampeders pushed their win streak to two games, defeating the Dauphin Kings 4-3 Wednesday afternoon at the Centennial Arena.

The Stampeders held their first ever student game and it didn’t disappoint. Over 500 kids showed up and brought their voices with them. The ruckus crowd helped the Stampeders earn two huge points in the MGEU West Division.

The Stampeders offence was led by Collin Jennings (1G, 1A), Justin Keck (3A) while Kobe Grant stopped 39/42 shots he faced, earning his 21st win of the year.

 The Story 

The Stampeders had a great start to this afternoons contest, but fell behind as the Kings opened the scoring 1:10 into the first period. Noah Wilson scored 18 minutes later, tying the game on a turnover in the slot. Mason Smith responded for Dauphin at 19:53, giving the Kings a 2-1 lead heading into the locker room.

Collin Jennings has been red hot as of late, snapping home his 13th of the season 6:19 into the second period. Kobe Grant made an unreal save at one end, Adam Rajsigl sent the puck up to Jakob Jones who snipped his 28th of the season four minutes later, giving the Stampeders their first lead of the day. Darius Makse swatted one of mid-air at 11:27, giving the Stampeders a 4-2 lead heading into the third period.

Jamie Valentino pulled the Kings to within one at 16:34 of the third period but it wasn’t enough as the Stampeders held on for their 29th win of the season in front of an amazingly loud crowd Wednesday afternoon.

 What’s Next? 

The Stampeders will have a couple of days to get ready for their final road trip to the south. Swan will play the Winnipeg Freeze Friday night and they will close out the road trip with a stop in Selkirk Saturday night. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. and can be viewed on hockeytv.com.
