Brenden Saether Commits to Wentworth Institute of Technology

The Swan Valley Stampeders are proud to announce that 20-year-old Defenceman Brenden Saether has committed to play for the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards for the upcoming season.

The 6’4” 204 lbs Abbotsford, B.C. native was acquired by Swan Valley August 15, 2019 and has spent the last two seasons with the Stampeders, both of which would be cut short due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Before he made his way to the Valley, the stay-at-home Defeceman spent time with the Powell River Kings (BCHL), and the Surrey Eagles (BCHL), dressing in 72 regular season and playoff games tallying three assists. During his time manning the blue-line for the Stamp’s, Saether collected nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in 66 regular season and playoff games.

“I am very excited to join the Leopard family,” said Saether. “Wentworth Institute of Technology offers everything I am looking for in a postsecondary institution, both on and off the ice. Attending WIT is an amazing opportunity to complete my studies and further my hockey development in the historic city of Boston. I would like to thank Coach Wolffie for all his help during the recruiting process.

Also, I want to thank my amazing family, billets, coaches, training staff and teammates for all their support in helping me achieve this goal. To the Board of Directors, Volunteers and Corporate Sponsors of the Stampeders, your hard work and support of the team have helped make these last two years in Swan River very, very special.”

The Swan Valley Stampeders continue to provide a great platform that allows the players to stay focused and committed to their long term goals of making it to the next level.

Wentworth Institure of Technology is located in down town Boston, MA, USA and are a Division III school that competes in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).  WIT is a private technical design and engineering School founded in 1904.

“We are very happy for Brenden, and so proud of him,” said Head Coach and General Manager Barry Wolff. “Wentworth is a great school and this is a great opportunity for Brenden to further his education and hockey career.  The Leopard’s Hockey Team and Wentworth Institute of Technology just got a whole lot better.”

The entire Stampeder Organization would like to congratulate Brenden Saether on his recent commitment to play with the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards.
