Former Stamps Assitant Hired By Red Deer

SWAN RIVER,MB – The Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League have added Brad Flynn to their coaching staff.

The former Swan Valley Stampeder Assistant Coach has made several stops in his young coaching career, but the long nights, dedication, hard work, and patience is now paying off.

Flynn was hired by the Swan Valley Stampeders in 2012 where he became an Assistant GM, Assistant Coach, and Marketing Director. Brad spent two full seasons with the Stampeders Organization and helped coach the club to a 60-53-7 record between the two seasons.

“My time in Swan River was beneficial to my career, and that I learned some of my best scouting lessons from Jerry Mosiondz,” said Flynn. “I got to talk hockey with Darren Webster, enjoyed the long bus rides with my head coaches Dwayne Kirkup and Erik Peterson, the teams trainer and best buddy Wade Davy, as well as the ALL TIME best bus driver Jim Reich. Being able to have multiple different tasks and being trusted with the decisions I was able to make was the foundation for who I am as a coach. The last four years wouldn’t have been possible without Swan River giving me an opportunity and that’s something I will never forget.”

Flynn moved on to become an Assistant Coach with the Corpus Christi IceRays in 2014 where he helped lead the team to a 31-24-5 record. He jumped at the opportunity to join the QMJHL in 2015 with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan before returning to Corpus Christi as the Head Coach of the IceRays in 2016.

Brad’s biggest accomplishment came earlier this year when he was hired as a assistant coach with the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL.

“I’m extremely excited to move to Red Deer with Christine and our 5 month old daughter Madison,” said Flynn. “Red Deer was extremely appealing first and foremost to work with Mr. Sutter. His reputation is that of an honest, loyal, hard working, dedicated family man, I pride myself on the same. Secondly the team has a very bright future and an extremely talented prospect pool that I hope to help develop and also grow with.”

Flynn will work alongside Assistant Coach  Ryan Colville and Head Coach Brent Sutter for the 2018/2019 WHL Season.

Flynn said that “Working for a highly established and respected head coach like Brent Sutter is going to help me grow, I’m looking forward to embracing the process and I will enjoy the ride.”

Brad, who hails from Moncton, New Brunswick will join the Red Deer Rebels Organization in June for their prospect camp in Penhold.
