Stampeders look to bounce back against Steelers
Stampeders: 7-20-3-1 (5th in West) Power Play % (22.0% 8th in MJHL) Penalty Kill % (67.5% 12th in MJHL)
Steelers: 15-16-2-0 (5th in East) Power Play % (22.9% 6th in MJHL) Penalty Kill % (76.7% 10th in MJHL)
After a tough game in Niverville a night ago, the Stampeders look to try and bounce back against their fifth placed counter-parts in the Selkirk Steelers.
The Stampeders haven’t played the Steelers in quite some time, and fell 6-2 on the road to Selkirk in their first meeting. This’ll be the last time the Stampeders face the Steelers on the road, as they’ll see them again at the end of the month for two games at the SRCA.
Though there weren’t many great things from last night, new arrivals Dylan Ruff and Zach Hertz both scored their first goals with the Stampeders. Jake Giacobbo and Ryder Woods had apples, and Sam Bastien made 32 saves on the night.
Selkirk has been on a slide ever since they lost top scorer Rohan Guevarra to the BCHL. They currently sit on a four game skid and have since fallen out of a playoff spot. However, it doesn’t exclude the fact that they have a team that brings their grit and grind to every game, something the Stampeders have to match.
Players to Watch:
Stampeders: Dylan Ruff, Zach Hertz, Ryder Woods
Steelers: Wyatt Witham, Owen Branson, Griffin Krone
Tonight’s game will see the puck drop at 7:30 pm. The Stampeders will conclude their four game road trip with a visit to Neepawa on Wednesday. The Stamps will return home on Jan. 16 for a meeting with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for the Holiday Cash Lotto Draw. Make sure to contact any board member for tickets, or head to Cook & Cooke Insurance/Financial or the Swan Valley Star & Times.
