Stampeders in search of full effort in Virden
Stampeders: 1-5-0-0 (5th in West Division) Power Play % (20.7%) Penalty Kill % (66.7%)
Oil Capitals: 3-2-0-0 (T1st in West Division) Power Play % (14.3%) Penalty Kill % (76%)
After a tough loss on home ice last night, the Stampeders will look to try and bounce back against the Virden Oil Capitals once again, but this time in Tundra Oil & Gas Place for a 7:30 pm puck drop.
The Stampeders couldn’t find twine last night, as the Oil Caps Braxton Burdeny stood tall with a 26 save shut-out. However, it wasn’t like the Stamps were blown out of the water, as they stayed with the visitors all throughout the game.
The elephant of their problems had been the overall defensive structure, last night though, saw a very much more enclosed and confident defensive effort, being down 2-0 for most of the evening, Easton Falls made 37/39 in the loss.
One more thing remains, and that is the early injury trouble that the Stampeders have been dealt early, as captain Riley Fequet, Ben Groome and Jake Giacobbo remain out of the lineup. Penalties and mistakes in the offensive zone will be critical for the Stampeders to succeed tonight in Virden.
Players to Watch:
Stampeders: Ekam Dhaliwal, Easton Falls, Karson Connelly
Oil Capitals: Bryce Bryant, Carson Wright, London Hoilett
The Stampeders will return home right away as they face the Dauphin Kings on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 pm inside the SRCA.
