Stampeders begin road swing in Steinbach
Stampeders: 1-7-0-0 (5th in West Division) Power Play % (18.8%) Penalty Kill % (66.7%)
Pistons: 6-0-1-0 (2nd in East Division) Power Play % (25.7%) Penalty Kill % (86.2%)
After suffering their seventh straight loss on Tuesday, the Stampeders are back on the road tonight as they face the Steinbach Pistons for the first time this year, and the for the first time ever at Southeast Events Centre.
Looking back to their last game, the Stampeders played in their closest game yet, falling 2-1 to the Dauphin Kings in a game that saw them tied for most of the time. Bennett Muller had the only goal in the loss and despite getting out shot 31-18, the Stampeder defence played well.
The Stampeders will get a huge boost tonight as they welcome back Riley Fequet, Ben Groome, and Trace Langan back into the lineup after the trio missed games due to injury. Jake Giacobbo is expected to possibly play next weekend, which would have the Stampeders back to full strength for the first time since the pre-season.
The Pistons have played in some tight games as of late, as they are winners of three straight. Coming off wins against the Winnipeg Blues who they beat 5-2, a 5-3 win over Waywayseecappo, and a 6-1 win over the Winnipeg Monarchs.
As usual, the Pistons are never to be taken lightly, though they may have beaten teams by closer scores, it does not take out the fact that they are still one of the teams to beat in the MJHL. The Pistons also recently got one of their leading scorers from last year back in Grady Hoffman, who had a brief stint in the BCHL.
Players to watch:
Stampeders: Riley Fequet, Ben Groome, Trace Langan
Pistons: Grady Hoffman, Brody Green, Jack Greenwell
Now more than ever, the Stampeders must find a way to start winning games and cannot afford to continue this losing streak. With the help of some key returning forwards off the injured list, they could very well find a way tonight in Steinbach. The puck drops at 7 pm inside of Southeast Events Centre.
