MJHL TEAMS UP WITH WINNIPEG HARVEST

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is excited to support Winnipeg Harvest through the 2020 MJHL Draft in an effort to generate more awareness about the decreasing food supply they have witnessed during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Winnipeg Harvest is a not-for-profit, community based organization that is a food distribution & training centre. The closure of hundreds of businesses across the province has increased the demand for food in local communities. With the continued loss of jobs and wages, the demand for food is on the rise while their capacity to respond has decreased.

“If there’s one thing Winnipeg Harvest and the MJHL have in common, it’s community,” shared Winnipeg Harvest CEO, Keren Taylor-Hughes. “The COVID-19 pandemic is the greatest challenge Harvest has ever faced. During this time of increased need, we at Harvest want to stand together with our community, as one province, to achieve one goal – to feed our hungry neighbors. When we work together – we all Harvest the benefits. Thank you MJHL for standing with us and being Harvest Heros.”

The MJHL and its eleven member teams will create awareness through different initiatives on their social media platforms leading into the Draft which takes place on Sunday, April 26.

“This partnership will be a great way to utilize the entire MJHL community to help spread awareness about the emergency needs facing Winnipeg Harvest using our reach and various platforms available with the league, “MJHL Director of Operations, Kevin Saurette explained. “Funding is urgently needed for this vital service and we hope this campaign can help make a difference in allowing Winnipeg Harvest to keep their warehouse open and to keep food flowing to those that need it throughout the province.”
