Swan River, MB. – The Swan Valley Stampeders redeemed themselves Saturday night at the Centennial Arena, defeating the Blizzard 6-3 during their MNP Home Opener.
The Stampeders were lead by Alex Walicki (2G, 1A), Darius Makse (1G, 1A), Griffin Ayotte (1G, 1A) and Callum Halls (1G, 1A) while Elias Giaccari-Dimitriou stopped 37/40 shots for his first MJHL Win.
Swan Valley charged out of the gates Saturday night, collecting four first period goals. Darius Makse got things going 2:40 into the first period, scoring his first of the season. Callum Halls added to the Stamps lead at 3:07 and Alex Walicki scored on a short-handed breakway three minutes later to give the home squad a 3-0 lead. The Blizzard answered back scoring two goals in less than seven minutes. Captain Ashton Fishley gave the Stampeders their two goal lead back, scoring at 18:05 and the wild first period came to an end with Swan Valley ahead 4-2.
Sam Zagari scored his second of the game at 17:22 of the middle frame, but it wasn’t enough as the Stampeders held on and scored back-to-back empty net goals late in the third period to win 6-3.

Swan will regroup and get ready for action Wednesday night as they host the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Puck drop goes at 7:00p.m. from the Centennial Arena.
