Stamps fight till the end in 5-3 loss to Kings

The Stampeders showed tons of heart and effort in a 5-3 loss to the Dauphin Kings on Wednesday night, but luck wasn’t on their side.

The game began with both teams remaining scoreless throughout the first period, however, Sheldon Shyiak was able to get one passed Easton Falls to make it 1-0, the Stamps were able to strike back however, as Ben Groome got the monkey off his back on the power-play to tie the game.

The second period saw only one goal and that went to Stamps forward Crosby Harrison, who sniped one short side to make it 2-1, sending the game to the third period.

The score continued to stay 2-1 until a huge turn of events, a questionable call led to Dauphin scoring on the power-play, and eventually making it 3-2 just seconds later after the tying goal. The Stampeders were able to tie things up again with Ryder Woods scoring his first MJHL goal. However, Dauphin’s momentum was too much, as they scored once again to take a 4-3 lead, and went onto add with an empty netter.

Next up: Swan will remain at home for Saturday night as they welcome the 18-1 Niverville Nighthawks to town for a 7 pm puck drop.
