New Country Motel Post-Game Report

Stampeders get into penalty trouble, fall 6-2 in Selkirk

Tonight was the second straight loss for the Stampeders, as they drop to 1-2-0-0 on the season, falling 6-2 to the Selkirk Steelers on Friday night.

Though the first period was quite even in comparison, the Stampeders struggled to stay on an even playing field as they took seven penalties in the game. However, Selkirk also took seven penalties, but also managed to play well short-handed, the Stamps had their momentum completely taken away by all the penalties.

Evan Mayer would open the scoring in the first period, while Griffin Krone, and Landon Pue made it 3-0 with two quick markers in the middle frame. Ethan MacTavish scored his second of the year to cut the lead down to two, but the Steelers kept pushing, scoring three more times in the second to take a 6-1 lead into the third.

Darren Hunt would score the only goal in the third, and Easton Falls made 38/44 saves on the night.

The Stampeders will regroup and try for the split tomorrow as they face the Winnipeg Blues at 7:30 pm inside of the RINK Training Centre.
