Stamps win 6-4 on memorable night
The Stampeders were able to win their first Amara’s Amigos Hockey Fight’s Cancer Night tonight with a 6-4 win over the Winnipeg Blues.
Period one saw a fast start for the home team, as Trace Langan opened the scoring after a large scrum in the crease. A few minutes later, the Blues quickly tied the game courtesy of Campbell Epp, but the Stampeders were granted a power-play and made no mistake, as Gavin Bartha let a wrister go from the point to make it 2-1.
Aiden McDonald would answer with his first goal of the year to tie the game again, this time at two. The first 20 minutes would end with a 2-2 score.
The second period was basically deja vu for both teams, as Bartha would double down to start the frame, but Epp would tie it at 3-3. Meanwhile, Bennett Muller would make it 4-3 by sniping one past Kannen Kirkwood, but the Blues wouldn’t give up, as Eli Fox tied the game at 4-4 for the third period.
The Stampeders knew they needed this win and got to work in the third, as Riley Fequet would score the game winning goal on a great two on one with Ethan MacTavish. Trace Langan would add to the lead with an empty netter to seal the win. Sam Bastien made 32/36 saves in the win.
Next up; The Stampeders will head to Waywayseecappo on Wednesday, Nov. 12 for a 7:30 pm puck drop against the Wolverines.
