New Country Motel – Post Game Report

Stampeders come together for emotional 5-1 win

The Stamps were able to come together and play a full 60 minutes in The Pas to snap the 11 game losing skid, winning 5-1 on Tuesday night.

Thought the Stampeders scored five goals, it didn’t come until the middle frame. The opening 20 minutes set the tone for the rest of the game, as both teams showed their endless rivalry to a full degree with some big hits and scrums in the first period.

After a first period full of offensive chances, the Stampeders were able to break through in the middle frame, as Nate Hayes sauced a perfect pass to Stamps AP forward, and local product Dayson Martin who scored his first goal in the MJHL on a breakaway.

The offence didn’t end there. As Stamps forward Andrew Pidskalny, ironically, scored his first MJHL goal to make it 2-0. Pidskalny’s family spent many hours in the Roy H. Johnston Arena prior to their time in Swan, making it a very memorable evening.

It didn’t take long for the Stamps to score their third goal of the night, as Ethan MacTavish scored on a rebound chance. Later on, Martin would score once again to make it 4-0 and cap off a four goal second period outburst.

Bennett Muller would add one more to the tally, while Kelton Kellerman made it 5-1 late in the third, but the Stampeders stood tall for a 5-1 win.

The Stampeders will head back on the road this coming weekend to Niverville on Friday, and Selkirk on Saturday.
