Penalty trouble leads to Stampeders 7-4 loss
The Stampeders took gave up three power-play goals on Saturday as they lost 7-4 in Selkirk on Saturday night.
Period one saw the Stampeders give up a late power-play goal after killing the first two penalties taken. A 1-0 deficit saw the Stamps struggle to stay out of the box in the middle frame as well, as Selkirk converted twice more in the second period.
However, the impressive play of Zach Hertz continued, as he scored on the power-play for his second straight goal to make it 3-1 heading into the third.
Selkirk would start the final 20 minutes with a goal of their own, the first even strength goal of the evening. However, the Stampeders began to find their footing, as Chantyn Michell-Thompson scored to make it 4-2, followed by Crosby Harrison scoring to make it 4-3.
Hertz would score once again to make it 4-4. Though they were able to tie the game, Selkirk scored late and eventually would tack on two more for the 7-4 win.
The Stamps will end their road trip in Neepawa on Wednesday
