New Country Motel – Post Game Report

Stamps comeback to win 4-3 in SO

The Stampeders worked for a full 60 minutes in this game and clawed back to steal two points from the Selkirk Steelers tonight by a 4-3 final in the shootout.

This game saw no scoring through the first 20 minutes, but took 58 seconds into the second period to break the ice, as Selkirk saw Wyatt Witham score to make it 1-0.

The Steelers didn’t stop there and scored a second goal from Dawson Madden who made it 2-0, but the Stamps were able to strike back as Wylie Smith made it 2-1 with a rip from the point.

Swan was able to keep it 2-1 going into the final 20 minutes and were able to tie the game off the stick of Zach Hertz, who put a changing shot on goal, fooling the Steeler netminder to tie it at two.

However, penalties began to ramp up, and on a 4-on-3, Selkirk scored again thanks to Witham to make it 3-2. However, Swan was able to tie the game once again as Reis Nyland got a deflection in front on the power-play to tie the game at three. The game would head to overtime, but saw no answers.

That meant a shootout was needed, which saw both Ben Groome and Jake Giacobbo score to win the game and seal a comeback victory for the Stampeders.
