Stamps mount up for 5-2 win over Monarchs
The Stampeders got back into the win column Saturday night with a 5-2 win over the Winnipeg Monarchs.
It came with some adversity however, as the Monarchs struck first in the opening frame with a power-play goal from Cam Alt. A slow period for the Stampeders then translated into the second period, as Ian Lavallee scored once again on the power-play.
That would be the last goal they would score, as the Stamps picked up their game starting with Crosby Harrison, scoring on a great rush chance on the power-play to cut the deficit. Into the third, Karson Connelly kicked things into high gear with a fight to give his team some extra momentum.
With the momentum, Trace Langan made a nice move past the Monarch defenceman and sniped to tie the game. To follow, Nate Hayes would get the monkey off his back scoring the go-ahead goal to make it 3-2. Jake Giacobbo then added some insurance to make it 4-2 and Jaxon Haley scored into the empty net to seal the 5-2 win.
During the third, a scary incident happened on ice to former player Carson Legault. We’d like to wish Carson a speedy recovery and wish him well.
