New Country Motel – Post-Game Report

Stamps get shutout for fifth straight loss

The Stampeders were held to a zero in tonight’s 3-0 loss to the Virden Oil Capitals, but it wasn’t as un-even as people may think.

Despite a tough start to the game, the Stampeders had numerous chances throughout the game, but sailing shots high and wide, hitting posts, and some timely saves from Oil Caps goaltender Braxton Burdeny made life difficult on the home squad, who were also missing captain Riley Fequet, Ben Groome, and Jake Giacobbo.

Bryce Bryant opened the scoring on the power play in the first period, while Carson Wright scored early in the second to make it 2-0. Noel Englot scored the empty net goal to seal the deal on the night.

Though disappointing, the Stampeders general defensive game played better tonight and they’ll take that as a plus heading into tomorrow when they face the Oil Capitals again, at Tundra Oil & Gas Place for a 7:30 pm puck drop.
