Stampeders snap losing skid, defeat Blues Saturday night in OT
The Stampeders played a great 60 minutes to snap their eight game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win over the Blues on Saturday night.
The game began in a flash, with the Blues scoring just two minutes into the contest to make it 1-0. It didn’t take long for the Stampeders to tie things up, as Ekam Dhaliwal was able to cash in to tie the game. The Blues would score again minutes later, as Hayden Ritter was able to make it 2-1.
Simon Ward was able to then tie the game up at two a piece just before the period ended.
The middle frame saw some great opportunities on both sides, but no goals were allowed by either team’s netminders.
The final 20 minutes saw a very close game come down to the final five minutes of the third, as Campbell Epp was able to score the go-ahead goal to make it 3-2, but in the dying seconds, with the net empty, the captain came to the rescue, as Riley Fequet scored to tie the game at three with 35 seconds to go. The game would enter overtime.
It only took Fequet 31 seconds to score the game winning goal to send the Stampeders home with a win under their belt.
Next up; The Stampeders will host the Winnipeg Monarchs on Friday, Oct. 17 for Multicultural Night with a 7 pm puck drop.
