Help Wanted: Assistant Coach

Position Type: Full-Time (August 2025 – March 2026)
Location: Swan River, Manitoba
Compensation: Salary commensurate with qualifications. Additional compensation available for candidates who assume marketing responsibilities.
The Swan Valley Stampeders Jr. A Hockey Club is seeking a motivated and dedicated Assistant Coach to join our organization for the 2025–2026 season. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in supporting the development of our athletes and the overall success of our program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Coach/GM in all aspects of hockey operations, including administrative duties as assigned.
- Assist with facility and equipment management.
- Schedule and supervise practices, maintain training equipment, and help coordinate team events.
- Observe, assess, and provide feedback on individual and team performance.
- Participate in recruitment, player development, and game supervision (on and off the ice).
- Conduct video analysis of opponents and create individualized sessions for player development.
- Promote a positive team environment focused on growth, accountability, and success.
- Fulfil other duties as assigned by the Head Coach/GM.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven leadership abilities with a commitment to player development and advancement.
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and feedback-oriented approach.
- Strong working knowledge of systems and structure appropriate to Junior A hockey.
- Willingness to work closely with hockey operations staff to develop and execute team goals.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in dealing with players, staff, officials, fans, and management.
- History of successful recruitment and promotion of Junior A calibre athletes.
- High Performance 1 and Respect in Sport Certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Optional Marketing Role (Salary Enhancement Opportunity):
Candidates with marketing experience or interest may be eligible for additional compensation by taking on the following duties:
- Lead and manage the team’s marketing program in consultation with the Board of Directors.
- Oversee the corporate sponsorship program, including regular follow-up with sponsors and providing updates to the Board.
- Maintain and update team social media channels and the official team website.
- Engage with community partners and ensure all outreach commitments are met.
