Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium 3 Stars of the Week

The Swan Valley Stampeders are coming off a recent three game road trip where they went 3-0, picking up six huge points in the standings. The club has been playing very well lately, stringing together four straight wins, and claiming points in their last six outings.

The Stampeders hit the road Friday December 13th for a two game mini series against the Selkirk Steelers. Swan would win back-to-back games in Steelers territory, 3-2 Friday, and 6-5 Saturday. The Stamps’ would finish off a 3-in-3 road trip with a 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Blues Sunday evening.

Barry Wolff’s return to the bench has been a huge motivational boost for the team. Under the new Head Coach and General Manager, the club has gone 4-0, scoring 21 goals while only giving up 13.

The Three Stars of the Week is awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season.

The top three players will be presented an award before our final home game of the regular season.

Three stars point system is as follows:

1st Star = 5 points

2nd Star = 3 points

3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Dec 9 – Dec 16)

3rd Star
Jackson Betcher slides into the third star spot this week. The 18-year-old scored two highlight reel, end-to-end goals against Selkirk and Winnipeg on their most recent 3-in-3 road trip. The Swan River, MB product has seen an increase in ice time lately and is capitalizing on his chances. The 6’1” 190 lbs defenceman has dressed in 32 games with the Stampeders this season, scoring 4 goals and adding 7 assists.

2nd Star
Tommy Cardinal jumps back into the mix this week after another fantastic road trip. The 20-year-old scored twice and picked up an assist over the course of three games. The St-Etienne-de-Lauzon, QC, CAN native would score the game winner Friday in Selkirk, and would pick up a goal and an assist in a 5-3 win over Winnipeg Sunday night. The 5’10” 201 lbs power forward has collected 11 goals, adding 19 assists in 35 games with the Stampeders.

1st Star
The “big man” with smooth hands takes this week’s first star award. Trevor Schroder collected four points in three games last weekend with Swan Valley. The Des Moines, IA, USA product would tie the game Friday against Selkirk, added two goals Saturday in the teams 6-5 win over the Steelers, and collected an assist Sunday in Winnipeg. The 6’3” 216 lbs forward has dressed in 33 games scoring 14 goals while adding 18 assists.

Honourable mentions go out to Nathan Car (1G, 2A), John Jebamani (1G, 1A), Luke Beerman (1G, 2A), and Callum Fortin (1G, 1A).

The Stampeders now shift their focus on two big home games before the Christmas break. The Stamps host the OCB Blizzard Wednesday Dec 18 (Couples Night – buy one ticket and get the second for half price, Canadian Rangers Game Sponsor), and Saturday December 21 against the Portage Terriers (Sponsored by the Kinsmen, 18 and under get in free, $1000 guaranteed 50/50 take home).
