Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium Three Stars of the Week (Nov. 19 – Nov. 26)

Every Monday we will be awarding three players who had a big week and giving them stars. We will be doing this week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three players will be recognized and presented an award during our final home game of the season.

The Stampeders only played one game last week and once again let it slip through their fingers. Swan Valley has been knocking at the door for the past month but still cannot seem to find a way to win. The Stampeders will need a huge stretch of hockey from now until the Christmas break if they want to set themselves up for a push in the New Year to make a playoff appearance. A tough task, but it can be done.

December 1 Looming | the December 1 cut down date is coming up fast and many people are waiting to see what the Swan Valley Stampeders do. The Stampeders are five and a half games back of a playoff spot with 34 games left in the season.

The Week Ahead | The Stampeders have two games this week, Friday Dec. 1 against Neepawa and Saturday Dec. 2 against Selkirk at the Centennial Arena.

Hockey is for Everyone | The hockey for everyone game night was a success and we want to thank everyone who took part this year. Please head to our youtube page to view the entire opening ceremony.  The Jerseys for the event will be auctioned off starting tomorrow (Tuesday Nov. 28). Please watch our social media platforms and website for the auction.

Three star point system is as follows:

1st Star = 3 points

2nd Star = 2 points

3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Nov. 19 – Nov. 26)

3rd Star

Gage Stewart slides down two spots this week, but let’s be clear, it wasn’t for a lack of effort against the Blizzard last Tuesday. Since taking over in net for the Stampeders, Stewart has seen 40 plus shots in every game except one. The 20-year-old Marathon, ON product  stopped 37/41 shots he faced, posting a .925 SV% in the loss last Tuesday.

2nd Stars

Jakob Jones jumps into the second star spot this week after a great performance last week against the Blizzard.  The 20-year-old opened the scoring Tuesday night against the Blizzard, collecting his eighth of the year just 14 seconds into the game. He finished the game standing up for himself and showing some raw emotion. Jones sits third in team scoring with 15 points (8G, 7A).

1st Star

Trey Sauder takes over the first star selection this week, collecting two assists against the Blizzard during our Hockey is for Everyone game last Tuesday.  The 20-year-old has been quietly putting up points for his hometown team and now sits second in team scoring with 19 points (6G, 13A).

The “Three Stars of the Week” is brought to you by Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium.
