Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium Three Stars of the Week (Nov. 20 – Nov. 27)

It’s time for another Three Stars of the Week, which is brought to you by Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium. Every Monday we will be awarding three players who had a big week and giving them stars. We will be doing this week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three will players will be recognized and presented an award during our final home game of the regular season.

The Swan Valley Stampeders turned up the heat once again this past weekend, sweeping a two-game, home-and-home, mini-series against the Virden Oil Capitals.

The Stampeders have brought their A-game as of late and are putting the league on notice. Swan has now won eight of their last 10 games and propelled them into second place in the MGEU West Division. Swan Valley’s offence finally exploded Saturday night in Virden, dropping the Oil Capitals 6-2. Before that, the Stampeders won eight of nine games by just one goal.

Swan Valley was able to keep their amazing home record Friday night at the Centennial Arena, defeating the Oil Capitals 4-3. Collin Jennings collected a pair of goals and Justin Keck added to his point total while Jakob Jones scored the eventual game-winner at the 7:41 mark of the third period. Kobe Grant picked up the win in net, stopping 31/34 shots he faced.

The Stamps’ offence came alive Saturday night in an outstanding team performance at Tundra Oil and Gas Place. Trey Sauder collected a pair of goals, Alex Walicki, Noah Wilson, Jones and Jennings all scored in a lob-sided 6-2 win. Kobe Grant stopped 36/38 shots he faced to even his season record 9-9 and helped improve the Stampeders record to 15-9-1-1.

The “Three Stars of the Week” is brought to you by Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium, and will be awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three will players will be recognized at the end of the season.

Three stars point system is as follows:

1st Star = 3 points

2nd Star = 2 points

3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Nov. 20 – Nov. 27)

3rd Star

Collin Jennings holds steady this week after another offensive explosion this past weekend. The 20-year-old from North Vancouver, BC collected four points in two games against the Virden Oil Capitals. Jennings has been on fire as of late, scoring three goals and adding one assist in a home-and-home mini-series against Virden. The 6”1” 200lbs defenceman sits with 13 points in 24 games this season.

2nd Star

Trey Sauder returns to the three star selections this week, collecting five points in two games against Virden. The 19-year-old from Swan River, MB collected two assists in Friday night’s game. He followed that up with a pair of goals and an assist in a 6-2 win on the road Saturday night. The 6’0” 190lbs forward sits third in team scoring with 19 points (9G, 10A).

1st Star

Jakob Jones edged out Sauder for this week’s first overall selection as he to collected five points in two games. The 5’10” 175lbs forward from Vernon, BC collected two assists and then scored the game-winner Friday night at the Centennial Arena. The 19-year-old followed that up with a goal and an assist in a 6-2 road win Saturday night in Virden.

Honourable mentions go out to Alex Walicki, Justin Keck, and Noah Wilson who all collected a goal and two assists last weekend.

The Stampeders’ next action will be Tuesday (Nov. 29) against the OCN Blizzard. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre.
