Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium Three Stars of the Week (Oct. 29 – Nov. 5)

Every Monday we will be awarding three players who had a big week and giving them stars. We will be doing this week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three players will be recognized and presented an award during our final home game of the season.

The Stampeders 10 game losing streak has finally come to and end after a 5-2 win against the Winnipeg Blues Sunday night.

Swan Valley has been playing some great hockey as of late but the hockey gods made them suffer a bit longer this past weekend where they went 1-2 on their road trip.

The Stampeders have been in every game and playing a full 60 minutes but couldn’t find points in Selkirk Friday or against the Steinbach Pistons Saturday night. They did however find a starting goaltender. Gage Stewart put on a clinic over the last three games stopping 113/118 shots he faced. The team just couldn’t find their scoring touch to help him out.

Another Busy Week Ahead | The Stampeders will return to action Tuesday Nov. 7 in the Pas to face the Blizzard. Swan Valley will then have a tough task against the Winkler Flyers Friday night at the Centennial Arena and will close out the week Sunday night against the Blizzard in the Pas.

Three star point system is as follows:

1st Star = 3 points

2nd Star = 2 points

3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Oct. 29 – Nov. 5)

3rd Star

Trey Sauder makes his first appearance on the three stars of the week. The 20-year-old from Swan River collected two assists and an empty net goal this past weekend. The 6’0” 190lbs forwad sits second in team scoring with 13 points (4G, 9A).

2nd Star

Darius Makse jumps into the second star of the week spot after a two goal performance Sunday in Winnipeg. The 20-year-old finally showed his offensive side and helped his team to victory. The 6’3” 210lbs power forward sits fifth in team scoring with 10 points (6G, 4A).

1st Star

Gage Stewart earned this week’s first star award after stopping 113 of 118 shots he faced. The 20-year-old Division I commit has been a rock in the stampeder net, posting a .958SV% and a 1.67 GAA over past three games.

Honourable Mentions | Jakob Jones (1G, 1A), Dobie Unrau (1G), Ashton Fishley (1G).
