PAULL FUNERAL HOME 3 STARS OF THE WEEK!!

The Swan Valley Stampeders are coming off a very busy, but yet rewarding week. The team went 4-0 defeating Dauphin 3-2 (Monday Sep 30), Winnipeg 4-2 (Tuesday Oct 1), Neepawa 3-0 (Friday Oct 4), and Winnipeg 4-3 in overtime (Sunday Oct 6). The Stampeders continue to roll early on this season, now sitting with a record of 7-1-0, which is good for second place overall in the MJHL Standings. The Stamps’ will now have a four day break to rest and get ready for a three day road swing in the south this upcoming weekend with games in Steinbach, Selkirk, & Portage.

The Stamps’ twenty-year-olds are continuing to find the back of the net. Frazer Dodd & Tommy Cardinal both sit in the MJHL top 10 scoring.

The “Three Stars of the Week” returns this year thanks to Paull Funeral Home & Crematorium.

The Three Stars of the Week will be awarded week-to-week with points being collected throughout the season. The top three players will be presenter an awarded before our final home game of the regular season.

Three stars point system is as follows:
1st Star = 5 points
2nd Star = 3 points
3rd Star = 1 point

THREE STARS (Sept 29 – Oct 6)

3rd Star
Callum Fortin had a big week with the Stampeders. The 2002 born forward from Souris, MB scored his first ever MJHL goal Monday night against the Dauphin Kings at the MJHL Old Dutch Player Showcase in Winnipeg. Fortin would score the insurance goal against the Neepawa Natives Friday night in front of the hometown crowd.

2nd Star
The fan favourite picks up this weeks second star award. Tommy Cardinal continues to add to his point total, scoring once while adding four helpers over the course of four games. The 20-year-old would chip in on Trevor Schroder’s game winner Monday night against the Dauphin Kings. Cardinal would score the game winning goal Tuesday night as the team met the Winnipeg Blues for the first time this season. He would later assist on the insurance goal by Josh Maucieri. The product of St. Etienne du Lauzon, QC would help set up Frazer Dodd’s game tying goal in the first period Sunday against the Blues.

1st Star
Trevor Schroder is this weeks first star. He has continued to impress several Stampeder fans since joining the team out of camp. The 6’3” 213 lbs forward from Des Moines, IA, USA collected three goals and added an assist last week in a Stampeder uniform. Schroder scored his first MJHL goal against the Dauphin Kings Monday night at the Showcase. The goal would hold up to be the game winner. The big man would pick up a goal and an assist against Neepawa Friday, and score the game tying goal Sunday against the Winnipeg Blues in front of the Swan River faithful.

Honourable mentions this week go out to Mattias Dal Monte (1G, 2A), Frazer Dodd (2G,1A).

The Stampeders won all four of their games last week, improving their record to 7-1-0. The Stamp’ will have a short break and will venture out on a three game road trip this upcoming weekend. Friday night they will be in Steinbach to face the Pistons, Saturday they will visit the Selkirk Steelers, and will wrap up the road trip with a matchup against this years Centennial Cup hosts the Portage Terriers.

The next home action for the club will be Friday October 18 against the Winkler Flyers. A 50/50 take home prize of $1000 has been guaranteed.
