Round Two – Playoff Preview – Stampeders vs Pistons

Swan River, MB – The Swan Valley Stampeders earned the right to play on during this year’s MJHL Playoffs, defeating a speedy and highly skilled Dauphin Kings team in six games.

They are now set to take on the Steinbach Pistons in the second round. It will be a battle of number two and number three overall in the league and it won’t disappoint.

Sure, the Pistons are a great hockey team and may have won the regular season series matchup, but people continually forget that the Stampeders have only lost four games in their last 21 games played, (13-2 prior to playoffs). Swan Valley uses a team game, has the top goaltender and will bring it when their opponent’s momentum slips.

The Stampeders will also see the return of Swan River product Steven Arp who has been sitting the last three games due to suspension. The hope is to have Landen Gulutzan back at some point during the series after going down with an injury early in Game 4 against Dauphin. Fresh legs and fresh faces in the lineup can do wonders for teammate’s legs during what is expected to be a long battle between these two teams.

Game 1 is set for Friday (April 7) while Game 2 goes Saturday (April 8) at T.G. Smith Centre in Steinbach. Both games get underway at 7:30 p.m..

Game 3 (presented by Formo Motors), and Game 4 (presented by Pizza Place) will be in the Valley Tuesday (April 11) and Wednesday (April 12). Both games have a guaranteed 50/50 of $1,500. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online at stampedershockey.com, through the Stampeder app on your mobile devices, at Riddell’s Plumbing and Heating or at the door. Puck drops are set for 7 p.m..

Games 5 (April 15), 6 (April 17), and 7 (April 19), if necessary, will rotate between the two communities. All away games start at 7:30 p.m..

This series is going to be epically fun to watch whether you are a Pistons or a Stampeders fan. #SaddleUp
