The Swan Valley Stampeders found their scoring touch Sunday night in Winnipeg, defeating the Blues 5-2 and snapped their 10 game losing streak.
Swan Valley’s offence was led by Darius Makse (2G), Trey Sauder (1G,1A), Jakob Jones (1G), Ashton Fishley (1G), while Gage Stewart turned aside 33/35 shots he faced for his first MJHL win.
The Stampeders have been playing some great hockey as of late and it finally paid off in Winnipeg. Darius Makse got the party started at Hockey for all Centre in Winnipeg, scoring his fifth of the season 4:52 into the game. He followed that up with his second of the game, walking out of the corner and snapping one past River Leslie-Toogood at 15:29 on the power play.
Jakob Jones added to the Stampeders lead 37 seconds into the middle frame, driving wide on the defender and taking the puck to the net for his sixth of the year. Cole Penner answered back for the Blues just over two and a half minutes later.
Ashton Fishley snapped home his fourth of the year on a 5-on-3 power play, 4:22 into the third period. Dawson Zeller pulled the Blues to within two at 8:21 of the third period but that was it as Trey Sauder added an empty net goal at 18:06 and the Stampeders earned two points Sunday night.
