Stampeders Defeat Steinbach 3-2 On Home Ice

The Swan Valley Stampeders continue to roll on home ice with a 3-2 win over Steinbach Sunday October 14th. 

The Stampeders were all over the Pistons in the opening minutes of tonight’s contest. Swan Valley jumped out to an early lead as they found themselves up by two just 1:46 into the opening frame. Wawanesa, MB product Brian Harris beat Matthew Radomsky high blocker side at 1:29. Newly acquired Stampeder Bradly Goethals beat a stretched out Radomsky just seventeen seconds later picking up his first as a Stampeder. Swan Valley goaltender Michael Davis turned away all eleven shots he faced. The opening frame closed out with the score 2-0 and the shots 16-11 in favour of Swan.

It was all Steinbach in the second period as Brendan Martin picked up his seventh of the year at 9:48. Pistons forward Tanner Mole tied the game on the power play at 16:51 sliding home his fifth of the year and the middle frame closed out tied at two. 

Both clubs went back and forth for a majority of the third period until the Matt Osadick scored his seventh of the year on the power play. Osadick’s go ahead goal at 13:18 proved to the the game winner and the Stampeders have now won six in a row on home ice. 

Michael Davis was awarded third star of the game making 33 saves in the win. Tonight’s first star was Matt Osadick who scored one goal and added an assist.

With the victory tonight the Swan Valley Stampeders move to 7-2-1 on the season and remain perfect on home ice. The next action for the Stamps will be Friday October 19th when the team travels to Selkirk to face the Steelers. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm. You can catch all the action live on hockeytv.com.
