Stampeders Drop Second Straight Losing To Wayway Wednesday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders drop their second straight, losing 4-2 to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Wednesday night in a lack lustre performance.

Leyson Coleman and Nathan Carl each scored a goal, while Tommy Cardinal picked up two assists in the loss.

A penalty filled first period in Waywayseecappo didn’t amount to anything for either team Wednesday night. Swan Valley gave up the games first two man advantages but would fend off the Wolverines quick moving power play. Swan would gain three straight power plays of their own, but couldn’t get shots on net as Wayway’s penalty killers blocked almost everything directed on net. Through 20 minutes of play the teams remained scoreless. Shots were 14-5 for Swan Valley.

The games first goal would come off the stick of a Wolverine as Gerrik Ripley let a shot go, flipped into the air, and dropped into the net behind Parker Rey 1:38 into the middle frame. Rayman Bassi would make a slick move and found a streaking Conrad Phillips, who beat Rey at 13:11 on the power play.

Leyson Coleman would drive the net, and deflect home his 11th of the year with 1:40 left in the middle frame. After 40 minutes of play the score was 2-1 Wayway, and the shots were 28-18.

Wayway would jump all over the Stampeders to open up the third period, scoring back-to-back goals to put the Wolverines up 4-1. Jacob Charko would walk in all alone and rip one over the blocker of Rey 2:09 into the final frame. Brody Moffatt would drive the net, as he was falling down, tapped home his 12th of the year at 5:48. Nathan Carl would score his 23rd of the year at 14:05 on the power play, but it wasn’t enough as the Stampeders fell 4-2, dropping their second straight game.
