Stampeders Fall 3-2 to the Selkirk Steelers Monday at the MJHL Showcase

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell to 3-8-1 Monday night,  losing 3-2 to the Selkirk Steelers at the MJHL Showcase.

The Steelers jumped out to a very early 2-0 lead in this evening’s contest, looking for a bit of redemption from their 4-3 overtime loss 10 days ago in Swan River.  Nick Giasson opened the scoring 2:58 into the game and Joel Purdom added his second of the season one minute later, shocking the Stampeders early on. Trey Sauder received a lucky break, sending a pass out front, hit off a defender’s skate and in with one minute left in the first period.

Mathiew Catellier scored on the power play at 12:53 of the second period, going back-hand, fore-hand, roof for his fourth of the season.

Luke Schaeffer added his first as a Stampeder at 15:55 but it wasn’t enough and the Steelers held on for a 3-2 win at the Seven Oaks Sportsplex Monday night.
