Stampeders Fall 4-3 To The Niverville Nighthawks Saturday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders put up a heck of an effort Saturday night in Niverville, falling  4-3 on the road.

Swan Valley’s offence was led by Trey Sauder, Darren Hunt and Riley Fequet who all collected a goal during tonight’s contest while Gage Stewart stopped 41/45 shots he faced.

The Stampeders came to play in the first couple of minutes but yet again, penalty trouble set them back behind the 8-ball and eventually on the scoreboard. The Nighthawks picked up the game’s first goal off the stick of Ty Kennett who roofed his eight of the year at 5:45. Aidan Taylor used his speed, forced the defender to turn over the puck behind the net and Trey Sauder tied the game into a wide open net at 8:26. Luke MacKenzie regained the Nighthawks lead just over four minutes later and Niverville lead 2-1 after 20 minutes of play.

Darren Hunt picked off a pass, turned on the jets, and wired home short-handed his first MJHL goal at 11:11 of the second period.  Luke McCrady answered back immediately for the Nighthawks, collecting his first of the season at 12:02. Riley Fequet joined the party at 13:43, sending home a rebound for his fourth of the season and both teams headed to the dressing room tied 3-3.

Kaycee Coyle added the dagger at the 16:58 mark of the third period and the Stampeders fell 4-3 Saturday night in Niverville.
