Stampeders Fall 5-2 Tuesday Night In Virden

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped their third in a row Tuesday night, losing 5-2 to the Virden Oil Capitals.

Dobie Unrau opened the scoring, collecting his fourth of the year on the power play 5:16 into the game. Grady Lane and Ethan Guthrie scored four minutes apart to hold a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Darius Makse tied the game, driving the net and depositing his ninth of the year at 6:58. But, Virden was just too strong, scoring three straight goals to win 5-2 on home ice, and sweep the season series 6-0.

The Stampeders will return to action Friday night when they travel to La Broquerie to face the Steinbach Pistons.
