Stampeders Fall 5-4 in Double-Overtime Friday Night, Trail 1-0 in their Best-of-Seven Series

Steinbach, MB. – The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped game one of their best-of-seven, quarter final series against the Steinbach Pistons, in double-overtime, Friday night.

The Story

Swan Valley was able to grab the first goal of the quarter final series as Justin Keck picked off a pass from a Steinbach defender, snapping it past Dominik Wasik 4:42 into the game. Steinbach responded with three straight goals to give them a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Swan Valley was able to use their legs and the big boys went to work. Jakob Jones pulled the Stampeders to within one, scoring a short-handed goal 1:11 into the middle frame. Collin Jennings tied the game on an unreal shot that beat Wasik just over six minutes later.

Adam Rajsigl crashed the net and deposited his third of the post-season, 3:09 into the third period to give the Stampeders a 4-3 lead. With the goalie out, the Pistons tied the game at 18:13, sending this game to overtime.

Ty Paisley was able to beat Kobe Grant at 3:38 of the second overtime period to defeat the Stampeders 5-4 and take Game 1 on home ice.
