Stampeders Fall 6-3 Tuesday Night, Lead The Best-of-Seven Series 2-1

Swan River, MB. – The Swan Valley Stampeders suffered their first loss of the 2022-23 MJHL Playoffs Tuesday night, dropping a 6-3 decision to the Dauphin Kings.

The Story

It is becoming a who scores first loses series between the Stampeders and the Kings. The first two games it was Dauphin who scored first and eventually lost the game. Tonight, was a flipped script as the Stampeders scored the first two goals and ended up losing 6-3.

It was the speedster Justin Keck who opened the scoring Tuesday night, collecting his third of the post season, sliding one past Cole Sheffield at 8:48 of the first period. Jakob Jones deflected one past Sheffield exactly two minutes later, sending the Stampeders crowd to their feet. But from there it was the Kings who slowly took back the game and scored four straight goals. Jayden Harris scored his first of the post-season, on the power play, with 1:02 to play in the first period.

The Kings kept coming and scored 1:45 into the second period to tie the game 2-2. Logan Walker gave the Kings a 3-2 lead at 6:48 and Deepkaran Hans added another power play marker at 11:39.

Justin Keck collected his second of the game at 2:44 of the third period but it wasn’t enough as Mathew Gough added the insurance marker at 6:11 and Myles Yearwood sealed the win with an empty net goal at 18:13.
