Stampeders Gain A Point, Lose 4-3 in Overtime Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders held on for a point Friday night, but ran out of gas in overtime, falling f4-3 to the Winkler Flyers.

Swan Valley’s offence was led by Trey Sauder (1G, 1A), Darius Makse and Ashton Fishley added a goal each and Gage Stewart suffered a 40 save performance in net.

The Winkler Flyers are big, they are strong and they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over the Stampeders Friday night. Tanner George scored his fourth of the year at 7:35 and Jayce Legaarden added a short-handed marker five and a half minutes later. Trey Sauder responded for his team, sniping one from the corner, beating Malachi Klassen over the shoulder for his sixth of the year at 17:41.

Darius Makse parked himself in front of the net and deflected home the game tying goal at the 6:31 mark of the second period. Spencer Shugrue regained the Flyers lead, scoring from the point at 10:33.

Ashton Fishley used a power play marker at 3:41 of the third period which forced overtime.

Noah Diemer played hero for the Flyers, scoring his third of the year at 3:42 of the extra frame and giving the Flyers a 4-3 win on the road.
