Stampeders Hire Associate Coach

The Swan Valley Stampeders are excited to announce Suneil Karod has been hired as the teams new Associate Coach.

Karod was born and raised in Nanaimo, BC and has coached with the Victoria Cougars Hockey Club of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League the past 10 seasons, the last three as General Manager and Head Coach.  During Suneil’s time with the Cougars, the team won five VIJHL Championships and seven regular season titles. In addition to his time with the Cougars, Suneil was also hired as an Assistant Coach by the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL prior to them hosting the 2018 Royal Bank Cup. Karod helped lead the team to winning the National Jr A Championship. Suneil holds two bachelor degrees from Vancouver Island University and the University of Victoria.

“We are really excited to have Suneil come on board with us. For over 10 years he has been part of a very successful program in Victoria and is going to bring a lot of experience to our hockey club” – Stamps head coach and general manager, Geoff Grimwood

The Stampeders would also like to thank former assistant Coach Ryan Bettesworth for his time with the club.

“Ryan has decided to step away from coaching at this time to focus on family and career commitments. Ryan was a huge part of the Stampeders 2018—2019 success and as a club we would like to thank him immensely. Ryan has an open door to drop in whenever he likes to our dressing room, and we hope he continues to be part of the club going forward in a less formal capacity” said Grimwood
