Stampeders hold AGM for 2024-25 season

The Swan Valley Stampeders held their Annual General Meeting in June 18 inside the Westwood Inn Banquet Room, to discuss with the public the current situation the hockey club is in.

To recap, former Stampeders President Evan Morden welcomed the room to the Annual General Meeting and beginning with the Presidents report and eventually transitioning over to the financial section of the agenda. After missing the playoffs for the second straight season, the Stampeders had a tough year for income throughout the 2024-25 season.

The team saw significant drop in their total game night numbers, going from $54,214 from 2024, to $39,709 in 2025. For planned event fundraising, the Stampeders also saw things drop, going from $173,985 in 2024, to $134,168 in 2025.

One of the big decreases was the Stampeders Hockey School, which had been cut short due to issues getting the ice installed at the Centennial Arena in time. Instead of $24,090 from 2024, the Stampeders only made $13,398 in 2025.

Overall, the Stampeders brought in $457,079 this year compared to last year’s $588,311 with a deficit of $55,248. All of the financials were dated as of May 31, 2025.

Following the financial report, Stampeders Governor and Vice President, Warren Clark, talked about what is happening around junior hockey in the Canadian Junior Hockey League, announcing a new development in the Western Canadian Development, a new initiative to try and make the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, and Alberta Junior Hockey League, better in terms of players and the numbers.

With that, the Stampeders announced the resignation of former President Evan Morden, which left an open spot for a new president. Morden remained on the board of directors under a one year term, Jordyn Schweder was the newly admitted board member to a two year term , and Jackie Mullin, Ricky Barker and Rod Pidskalny all renewed their seats. Danielle Gordon-Broome accepted the role of President for the Stampeders.

Head Coach and General Manager Josh Tripp announced that the team has several candidates for the assistant coaching job, and that player recruitment is going very well for the team in the off-season, with four player signings that will be announced at a later date.

Tripp has brought in a total of six players for the 2025-26 season already, as the only two announced were Casey Magarell and Crosby Harrison who both played as affiliated players in the final games of last year’s regular season.
