Stampeders Lose 3-2 in a Shootout to Neepawa Friday Night

The Neepawa Titans needed six rounds in a shootout to defeat the Swan Valley Stampeders Friday night at the Centennial Arena.

The Swan Valley Stampeders have now lost their last three games and sit with a 3-6 record on the season.

Stampeders’ offence was led by Cody Barnes and Adam Rajsigl who scored a goal apiece while Dylan Black took the loss in net.

This is the second time this season the Swan Valley Stampeders needed extra time and a shootout. Their first shootout ended with Adam Rajsigl scoring an absolute beauty, tonight, it was a different story.

The Stampeders and the Titans both struggled to create any real pressure in each other’s end tonight, playing a lot of the game through the middle of the ice and along the boards.

Cody Barnes has the hot hand and added to his goal total, collecting a power play goal 6:01 into the middle frame. Connor Brust responded for the Titans just over seven minutes later, collecting his second of the year. Four and a half minutes later the Stampeders regained their lead as Brad Fortin sent a cross-ice pass to Rajsigl who tapped home his third of the year, sending the Stamps’ to the dressing room up 2-1.

Rylan Gudnason collected his fifth of the year at 10:46 of the third period, tying the game 2-2, and that goal eventually lead to overtime.

For the second time this year the Stampeders found themselves in overtime, and for the second time couldn’t find an overtime hero. 65 minutes of action wasn’t enough and the two teams found themselves in a shootout at the Centennial Arena.
