Stampeders Losing Streak Hits Two With A 5-1 Loss In Portage Saturday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders finished off the 2021 portion of the MJHL schedule with a 5-1 loss to the Portage Terriers at Stride Place Saturday night.

Stampeder offence was led by Jackson Betcher who picked up the teams only goal while Kobe Grant suffered the loss in net.

It was all Portage in the opening frame tonight at Stride Place. Austin McLean collected his sixth of the year beating Kobe Grant over the glove at 7:41. Tyler Dodgson was able to walk in all alone and wire one past a screened Grant, nine and a half minutes later, giving the Terriers a 2-0 lead heading into the dressing room.

Jackson Betcher gave the Stampeders some life late in the middle frame as he snuck in off the blue-line, sent a shot on net that beat Jayden Catellier with 7:19 remaining in the period. Ethan Matchim turned the puck over to Kayden Sutherland who went back-hand, fore-hand and in, with a minute and a half left in the second period, regaining the Terriers two goal lead.

Logan Calder collected his 18th of the year at 15:10 of the third period and Daniel Siso added his ninth of the year with 52 seconds left, and the Terriers skated to a 5-1 win.
