SWAN RIVER, MB– The Swan Valley Stampeders are excited to announce the signing of Swan River, Manitoba product Carter Cockburn.
The 6’1” Forward started his hockey career in Swan River then moved on to Parkland in 2014 where he spent 2 seasons with the Bantam AAA program. Over the course of those 2 years, Cockburn played in 60 games scoring 42 goals and added 26 assists. Cockburn played his last 2 seasons with the Parkland Midget AAA Rangers suiting up in 92 games while scoring 52 goals and added 40 assists.
“I’m very excited to sign with my hometown team that I’ve grown up watching my entire life,” said Carter Cockburn. “It’s a great opportunity for me to make that next jump in my hockey career and I’m fortunate to be able to do that at home. I’d like to thank my parents for supporting me along the way, and also Taurean and Darren for helping, encouraging me to get better, and for giving me the chance to play for this first class organization.”
“He is a highly skilled forward with tremendous puck skills,” said Stampeder Head Scout Darren Webster. “Cockburn has been a consistent scorer in every league he has been apart of and we’re are excited to have him. He has a tryout with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL later this month and we wish him the best.”
