Stampeders Snap Five Game Losing Streak, Win 5-3 Sunday Night in Winnipeg

The Swan Valley Stampeders found a way to snap their five-game losing streak Sunday night, defeating the Blues 5-3 at Hockey For All Centre in Winnipeg.

Swan Valley found a bit of offence Sunday night, scoring three straight goals to open the first period in Winnipeg Sunday night. Riley Fequet opened the scoring, collecting his fifth of the year on a beautiful passing play at 3:00. Darius Makse drove the net from the corner, scoring his 11th of the season on the power play a minute later and Will Brown added his 2nd as a Stampeder, sending a shot on net from a wide angle two minutes later. Liam Krupcysnski collected a power play marker, shooting the puck through the net at 16:08, scoring his second of the season.

The Stampeders added a pair of first MJHL goals in the second period. Matthew Munro collected his on a blast from the point at 10:54 on the power play and Ian Ness scored two minutes later giving the Stampeders a 5-1 lead through 40 minutes of play.

Carter Demelo and Rhylan Baxter added goals in the third period but it wasn’t enough as the Stampeders skated to their first win of 2024.
