Stampeders Tame The Terriers, Push Win Streak To Three Games Friday Night

Swan River, MB. – The Swan Valley Stampeders pushed their win streak to three games, defeating the number one team  in the MJHL 4-1 Friday night at the Centennial Arena.

The Stampeders offence was led by Alex Walicki (2G), Josh Danis (1G), and Jakob Jones (1G, 1A), while Kobe Grant stopped 37/38 shots he faced in the win.

 The Story 

The Stampeders found themselves behind the 8-ball tonight, once again playing catchup. The Terriers opened the scoring as Austin Peters walked in all alone and  beat Grant for his 12th of the season. Josh Danis was able to throw the monkey off his back, scoring his second of the season just over five minutes later, tying the game and sending both teams to the dressing room tied 1-1.

Alex Walicki gave the Stampeders their first lead of the game, scoring off his rear-end at the 19:45 mark of the second period.

Alex Walicki added his second of the night, poking a puck loose on the penalty kill, breaking in all alone and burying his fifth of the season to give the home team a 3-1 lead. Jakob Jones added an empty net goal at 17:11and Kobe Grant kicked aside 37/38 shots he faced en route to a 4-1 win against Portage.

The Stampeders will reset and get ready to host the Selkirk Steelers Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Centennial Arena. A game proudly presented by Swan River’s Key Chevrolet Buick GM.  Taylor School Choir will be performing the national anthem after our player parent presentations.
