Stampeders Win 1-0 In A Shootout, Improve Record To 2-2

The Swan Valley Stampeders and the OCN Blizzard ended a four game mini-series with a very entertaining game at the Centennial Arena Friday Sept. 24. The Stampeders needed 65 minutes of play, plus a shootout to defeat the Blizzard 1-0  on home ice to improve their record to 2-2.

It took a full 60 minutes of play, plus an additional 5 minute 3-on-3 overtime period and a shoot-out to find a goal scorer in Friday night’s game.

Goals were very hard to come by as both goaltenders put on an absolute clinic.  Nick Pineo and Dylan Black were unbeatable through 60 minutes of play stopping everything that was directed their way, meaning both teams would see an overtime period for the first time this season.

Both teams remained scoreless after a hard fought 5 minute, 3-on-3 overtime period, sending the two teams to their first shootout of the year.

The Stampeders offence found a way to win it in the shootout as Jamie Valentino and Adam Rajsigl scored while Dylan Black stopped all 30 shots he faced – plus two shooters in the shootout – to collect his first MJHL Shutout.
