Stampeders Win 4-3 In Double-OT, Force Game 5 Saturday Night in Steinbach

The Swan Valley Stampeders found a way to overcome their double-overtime demons Wednesday night, defeating the Steinbach Pistons 4-3, forcing a Game 5 Saturday night.

The Stampeders had a lot more energy tonight than last night, and pushed the Pistons at certain times during tonight’s game, knowing a loss would send them packing from the MJHL Playoffs.

The Story

The two teams traded chances throughout the first period but neither team could solve Kobe Grant or Dominik Wasik, sending both teams to the dressing room scoreless.

The Pistons jumped on a wild turnover in the offensive zone and that lead to Dawson Milliken grabbing the game’s first goal at 2:29 of the second period. Justin Keck responded, tucking home his eighth of the playoffs a minute and a half later to tie the game 1-1. Ty Paisley regained the Pistons one goal lead five minutes later, scoring his fifth of the post-season. Callum Halls, who drew back into the lineup after being a healthy scratch in game three, deflected home his second of the playoffs at 11:40, tying the game 2-2.

Adam Rajsigl used a power play to make his move, snapping home his fourth of the year on a perfectly placed shot that beat Wasik for a 3-2 lead at 15:48. The Pistons scored a minute later to tie the game and once again they were off to overtime.

This time, Swan Valley flipped the script as Adam Rajsigl sent a shot on net that beat a screened Wasik, 1:24 into the double-overtime period, sending the Stampeder crowd into a complete frenzy.
