Stampeders Win Second Straight, Defeat Niverville 4-1 Saturday Night

Niverville, MB. – The Swan Valley Stampeders played a near perfect road game, defeating the Niverville Nighthawks 4-1 Saturday night. The win improves the Stampeders record to 20-13-3-1, and a weekend road trip sweep.  Tonight’s win propels the Stampeders into second place in the MGEU West Division.

The Stampeders offence was led by Trey Sauder (1G, 1A), Justin Keck (1G), Noah Wilson (1G), and Alex Walicki (1G), while Kobe Grant stopped 35/36 shots he faced in the win.

 The Story 

Justin Keck opened the scoring Saturday night, collecting his 18th of the season, driving the net and tapping home a cross-ice pass from Trey Sauder at 4:41. Niverville responded just over five minutes later as Ethan Whillans deposited his first as a Nighthawk.

The Stampeders regained their lead back at the 15:31 mark of the second period as Noah Wilson deposited his own rebound for his ninth of the year.

Alex Walicki showed his patience holding and protecting the puck, cutting into the slot and scoring his fourth of the year at 6:53 of the third period. Trey Sauder added an empty net, short-handed goal with 1:33 left in the game, Kobe Grant kicked aside 35/36 shots he faced and the Stampeders skated to a 4-1 win on the road.
