Stamps Beat OCN 2-1 In OT, Extend Preseason Win Streak To Four

The Swan Valley Stampeders moved to 4-0-1 in preseason action tonight defeating the OCN Blizzard 2-1 in overtime.

Connor Close and Jayden Little would split the win in OCN tonight, while Trevor Schroder would score the game winner at the 3:16 mark of overtime.

A preseason matchup between the Swan Valley Stampeders and the OCN Blizzard Wednesday night (September 11th) was a back and forth contest, as players continue to battle for spots on their respective opening night rosters. Both teams had their chances on the power play but couldn’t solve either netminder. Connor Close and Zach Cloutier stood tall in the opening twenty, stopping all 10 shots they faced. The teams would head to the dressing room tied 0-0.

The intensity and the physicality picked up  to start the second period. It’s wasn’t until late in the middle frame before the game would see its first goal. Ethan Hersant (John Jebamani) was sent in all alone scoring a beautiful short handed goal with 1:21 left in the 2nd period.

OCN would tie the game late in the third period sending tonight’s game into extra time.

Trevor Schroder would show great patience as he waited out Zach Cloutier and backhanded home the game winner.

Swan Valley has now won four straight preseason games and will return to action Friday September 13, as the host the OCN Blizzard at the Centennial Arena. Puck drop is 7:30pm.

A reminder that the organization will be hosting a Meet the Stamps BBQ Friday September 13, from 11am-1:30pm in the Co-op parking lot. Plan to attend and support your Stampeders.
