Stamps Drop Final Pre-Season Game To Virden

The Swan Valley Stampeders headed south Saturday night for their final pre-season matchup against the Virden Oil Capitals. 

The Stampeders struck first as Tanner Booth snuck home a shot from the hashmarks at 9:26 of the first. Virden answered back on the power play as Dylan Halliday beat Keegan Watkins-McIntyre at 16:40. Ben Dalke moved the Oil Capitals ahead at 17:54 and the opening frame closed out with Virden leading 2-1. Shots after 20 mins were 11-10 for Virden. 

The Stampeders tied things up 20 seconds into the middle frame as Carter Cockburn beat Dalton Dosch. Kolten Kanaski put the Oil Capitals ahead at 3:56 and the second period closed out with the score 3-2 for Virden. 

Virden’s Tanner Andrew scored an early power play goal at 2:10 and Kolten Kanaski added his second of the game at 19:32 as the Oil Capitals went on to beat the Stampeders 5-2. Final shots on goal were 36-30 in favour of Virden. 

That concludes the Stampeders pre-season who ended up with a record of 2-5. 

The next action for the Stampeders will be  Friday September 21st in OCN to kick off their regular season. The next home action for the Stamps will be our home opener Saturday September 22nd against the OCN Blizzard. We hope to see you all there. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm at the Centennial Arena.
