Stamps’ Fall Short In Game 5, Losing 3-2 To Steinbach

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell two goals short of achieving something no other Stampeder team has accomplished, making it to the MJHL Finals.

The Stamps’ remain just one win away from advancing to the finals after losing 3-2 to the Steinbach Pistons in front of a packed house in Swan River.

Tonights contest took nearly 15 minutes to find the games first goal as Riley Vautour picked up his third of the post-season beating Merek Pipes at 14:19. The Stampeders would answer back as Josh Tripp scored 16 seconds later. The Pistons would once again regain the lead just over four and a half minutes later to hold a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Steinbach would push their lead to 3-1 as Vautour would pick up his second of the game with 48 seconds left in the middle frame.

Tripp would then pick up his second of the game snapping one over the glove of Matt Radomsky at 9:50 of the third period. With the goalie out the Stamps’ couldn’t find the equalizer as Radomsky would backstop the Pistons to a 3-2 win, stopping 57 of 59 shots.

The semi-final series between the two clubs will resume Monday in Steinbach at the T.G. Smith Centre. Puck drop will be at 7:30pm. Catch all the action live on HockeyTV.com
