The Swan Valley Stampeders continued their road swing Saturday October 6th as they faced off against the defending MJHL champions the Steinbach Pistons.
Both clubs were ready to play tonight as the high pace, hard hitting action went back and forth in the opening ten minutes of play. It was the Stampeders who struck first tonight as Josh Maucieri pushed home his 6th of the year at 11:06. Steinbach’s Aiden Wagner tied the game at 12:46 scoring his first of the year. Easton Bennett scored the go ahead goal beating Michael Davis over the glove at 16:34 and the Pistons lead 2-1 after twenty minutes of play.
Turnovers in the middle frame proved to be costly for the Stamps as Brady Tatro added to the Pistons lead at 4:07. Swan Valley sent 12 shots on the Pistons net but could not solve Matthew Radomsky. After forty minutes of play the Steinbach Pistons lead 3-1.
The Stampeders cut into the Pistons lead at 4:49 as Matt Osadick beat Matthew Radomsky on the power play. Troy Williams let a point shot go at 7:23 that beat a screened Michael Davis. Brendan Martin added another at 12:10 and the Pistons went on to defeat the Stampeders 5-2. Final shots on goal, 35 for Swan Valley and 35 for Steinbach.
With tonight’s loss the Swan Valley Stampeders fall to 5-2-1 on the season.
The next action for the Stampeders will be Friday October 12th when they host the Neepawa Natives. The game is a presentation of Shaw Direct. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.
