Stamps Take Down Portage, Extend Win Streak To 5 Games

The Swan Valley Stampeders picked up 2 huge points Saturday February 2nd against the Portage Terriers, and extended their win streak to 5 games with a 1-0 overtime win.

Grande Point, MB native Matt Osadick scored the overtime winner, while Merek Pipes stops all 43 shots he faced in a 1-0 win.

The Swan Valley faithful were treated to an unbelievable game tonight, as the two top clubs in the MJHL battled it out, in what was a playoff type atmosphere. Goaltenders Merek Pipes (Swan Valley) and Ethan Peterson (Portage) put on a clinic. The heavy hitting, back and forth high paced action continued through out the entire game. The two teams were deadlocked at zeros through 60 minutes of play and needed extra time.

It only took 21 seconds into overtime as Matt Osadick let a wrist shot go that beat Ethan Peterson through his arm and trickled in.

The win moves the Stamps to 34-10-3-2 on the season, and pulls Swan Valley within 6 points of 1st overall in the MJHL.

The next action for Swan Valley will be at home Saturday February 9th against the Winkler Flyer. Tickets are available at Atkinson’s Sports Excellence or at the door.
