Stamps Win A Thriller On Home Ice Against The Kings

The Swan Valley Stampeders picked up a huge two points Wednesday night, beating the Dauphin Kings 3-2 in overtime. Tonight’s meeting between the two clubs was the fourth already this season.

A “Thriller” on home ice has the Stampeders back in the win column after a rough week.

Leyson Coleman, Trevor Schroder, and Frazer Dodd all scored in a hard fought battle against their Highway 10 rivals. John Jebamani picked up two assists (one on the power play) to help the Stampeders climb back into the win column on home ice.

Captain Leyson Coleman (Luke Beerman, John Jebamani) opened the scoring at 14:49 of the first period, picking up his 4th of the year. Michael Davis kept his club leading after 20 minutes of play, stopping all 6 shots he faced.

Trevor Schroder (Mattias Dal Monte, John Jebamani) tipped a point shot into Zachary Grouette, and then cleaned up his own rebound depositing his 5th of the year, 1:02 into the middle frame. Baron Thompson would pick up his 11th of the year, scoring into an empty net at 6:29.

Nakodan Greyeyes would tie the game late in the third period, picking up a loose puck below the goal line and firing home his 8th of the year.

Despite giving up a late goal in the third, the Stamps’ found a way to win in overtime. 20-year-old Frazer Dodd picked up a loose puck, walked in and fired home his 7th of the year, 1:19 into the extra frame.

Tonight’s win improves the Stampeders record to 9-4-1, and now hold a 3-1 regular season record against the Kings.
