The Swan Valley Stampeders were back in Steinbach tonight to take on the Pistons in Game 2 of the best of 7 series.
The Pistons were all over Swan Valley in the opening minutes as Drew Worrad scored just 1:05 into the game. William Koop added another 46 seconds later and just 1:51 into the game Steinbach lead 2-0. Swan Valley started to push back but couldn’t solve Matthew Radomsky. The opening frame closed out with Steinbach leading 2-0 and the shots were 14-5 for the Pistons.
Keaton Jameson grabbed his first of the playoffs as he finally solved Radomsky 38 seconds into the middle frame. Steinbach regained the 2 goal lead at 3:25 as Tanner Mole scored his 3rd of the post season. Steinbach pulled ahead 4-1 at 4:02 as Drew Worrad buried his 2nd of the game which ended the night for Peterson. Brett Evans entered the game getting into his first action of the playoffs. The middle frame closed out with the Stamps trailing 4-1 and the Steinbach Pistons leading in the shot department 26-11.
Both clubs continued to press one another in the 3rd period but could not solve either goaltender until the 10:32 mark of the period as Brendan Martin beat Brett Evans. The Steinbach Pistons went on to win 5-1 and take a 2-0 series lead which now shifts back to Swan River for games 3 and 4. Final shots on goal were 42-21 for Steinbach.
Next action for the Stampeders will be Tuesday March 13th in Swan River. Puck drop for Game 3 will be 7:30pm.
